The Top “Rewatch” Podcasts

If you’re a television buff and haven’t discovered “Rewatch” podcasts yet, this list is going to blow your mind! Seriously! Imagine getting to rewatch your favorite show, AND get to discuss each episode in minute detail with others who love it just as much as you? Rewatch podcasts have become a hot commodity in recent times, with more and more shows jumping on the bandwagon. These podcasts have been so well received in fact, that even those who starred in some of our much-loved shows are getting in on the action and starting their own rewatch podcast! What could be more perfect than rehashing an episode with those who were actually there? There are so many great shows out there that we had a real tough time narrowing down the contenders. So, for the purpose of this list, we’ve focused on some of the biggest, most-beloved shows to ever hit the silver screens and the podcasts we think you’ll love if one (or all, no judgment here!) of these shows is your favorite. There’s something for everyone on this list! From sci-fi to sitcoms, there should most definitely be something you’ll love among these gems.

The Office

One of the most charming, witty, and down-right hilarious shows to grace our screens was The Office. Steve Carell led a stellar cast in this mockumentary-style sitcom which wormed its way into our hearts.

Office Ladies

It gets another chance to charm us again with the launch of Office Ladies late last year. This is a super special as it’s hosted by two of The Office’s stars. What could be better than getting all the fast facts, hilarious behind-the-scenes tidbits from two people who were there for every moment? Starting right at the beginning with the Pilot, Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey break-down the episode, share insider secrets and just reminiscence about the show. You can really tell they had the best time being Pam and Angela. As a bonus, they are often joined by other cast members, making this podcast perfect for die-hard fans (or newbies!) to enjoy. Whether you loved The Office, or want to watch it for the first time, this podcast is just what you’re looking for.

The X-Files

For those of who love paranormal series, we’re betting you probably have The X-files at the top of your “Favorites” list. With the final season airing last year, you may be needing to get your Sully and Mulder fix another way and we’ve got two podcasts we think you should try.

Kumail Nanjiani’s The X-Files Files

The X-Files Files, hosted by actor and comedian Kumail Nanjiani, is a really well-researched, fun listen, perfect for all The X-Files followers out there. This show has everything – humor, stellar interviews, in-depth perspective – it’s all there in bucket loads! Kumail has been able to interview a vast variety of guests connected to the show and in one of the best turn of events, he scored a guest role in Season 10, which came about after an interview with writer and director, Darin Morgan. However, it does warrant saying, that although the guest spot was the ultimate nerd experience for Kumail, it did also mean the end of the podcast, as Kumail felt his angle would be altered now that he’s actually been on the show. But we’re not going to leave you hanging! If you’re looking for a podcast to take you through to Season 11 then check out…

We Still Believe: The X-Files Fan Podcast

Made for the fans by fans, We Still Believe is an excellent X-Files rewatch podcast, full of banter, detailed discussions, and a whole lot of laughs. While they haven’t done every episode, they’ve covered Chris Carter’s essential episodes, and all of the lastest two seasons. Hosts Darrell and Chip are funny, have great camaraderie, but are also super insightful. They are true fans of the show, and they bring that energy and passion to their podcast, making this a truly great listen for old and new X-Philes alike.

Seinfeld

Ranked right up there with some of the greatest sitcoms of our time, Seinfeld ran for nine seasons, from 1989 until 1998. If you miss the everyday antics of Jerry and his eclectic friends, then you should definitely listen to…

Seincast: A Seinfeld Podcast

As a show that consistently brings in five-star reviews, it’s easy to see why Seincast is a firm favorite of many Seinfeld fans. The show is hosted by Matt and Vinnie, and their specialty is dissecting all 180 episodes in microscopic detail. They are true fans who loved the show, and they put a lot of time into researching each episode and often find juicy bits of information to share with their listeners. They’ve struck a great balance between informative and entertaining, and the result is a thoroughly enjoyable listen.

Lost

Another cult favorite, Lost, went off the air with a dramatic finale where we discovered that…just kidding, no spoilers here! But if you carried the torch for the island survivors, then there is one podcast you definitely need to check out.

The Hatch: A Lost Podcast

Sammy Roth was a loyal Lost fan since it was first aired in 2004. And now he and Rosalie Murphy are living their dream hosting The Hatch: A Lost Podcast, where they are currently making their way through Season 3 of the epic island saga. What makes this show even more special are the guests Sammy and Rosalie have been able to share the mic with. From Michael Emerson (the formidable Ben) to Sonya Walger (Penny) as well as other members of the crew including Damon Lindelo, co-creator, and showrunner of the series. They’ve been able to have the conversations all fans wish they could have with the people who helped bring the show to life. Their love of the show really shines through, and the “hot takes” and “hindsights” that are included for each episode are a testament to the work they put into making this show for other loyal Losties as well as those watching for the first time.

The West Wing

If your taste in television series swings towards political drama, it simply doesn’t get better than The West Wing. Running for seven seasons, it’s regarded by many as the epitome of television excellence, and so, of course, it must have an excellent rewatch podcast to accompany it.

The West Wing Weekly

The West Wing Weekly has a unique combination of hosts. One is Joshua Malina, one of the stars of the show, and the other is Hrishikesh Hirway of Song Exploder. Having the input and insight of one of a show’s members adds a very special element to a podcast, and this one is no exception. The content is always well-researched and original, the guests are always informative, and each episode in down-right entertaining. It’s a real joy to listen to, and it’s easy to see why they consistently receive 5-star awards on Apple Podcasts.

Battlestar Galactica

Ranked as one of the greatest science fiction shows out there, Battlestar Galactica took us on an epic journey through the deep space. We now can continue that journey in cyberspace via Battlestar Galacticast.

Battlestar Galacticast

First of all, what a great name for a rewatch podcast! Battlestar Galacticast is another rewatch podcast where one of the stars has become the host. This time Battlestar Galactia star Tricia Helfer (Number Six) is joined by her co-host TV writer/journalist Marc Bernardin as they delve deep into all the themes and storylines that made this show so great. There’s a great mix of guests, easy chemistry between Tricia and Marc, and a whole lot of behind-the-scene details fans of the show will love. It’s a great blend of funny and informative and gives you the chance to feel like part of the crew of the Battlestar Galactica.

Friends

Arguably one of the most iconic television shows of all time, Friends is loved the world over. And with the recent announcement of the reunion special (finally!), “Friends” is once again on everyone’s lips. And now that the break is over (get it?), and you want to rewatch the entire series in preparation for this auspicious event, then you’re going to want to check out this great podcast…

The One With

Josh and Melissa host The One With and expertly take us through every episode of this beloved favorite with laughter and good-natured banter. There are statistics, season overviews and recaps, besides the dissecting of each episode, and you’ll love just geeking out with Josh and Melissa over your shared love of this series. It’s easy to see why this podcast is a firm favorite amongst fans. But it doesn’t stop there! What started off as a Friends rewatch podcast has turned into something much bigger! Once you’ve waded your way through all seasons of Friends, you’ll find you’ll stick around for their discussions on a variety of pop-culture and television shows.

Game of Thrones

I realize the proverbial dust has not yet had a chance to settle on Game of Thrones, having only ended last year, but that has not stopped a flurry of rewatch podcasts. As Game of Thrones was such a massive success the world over, we’ve included not one but two rewatch podcasts we think you’ll love.

Binge Mode

Binge Mode’s Game of Thrones-themed episodes (they cover all other fandoms too! Just FYI…) are perfect for any fan of this massive hit! This podcast is crammed full of content, from in-depth discussions of poignant plot points to thorough character analyses, it’s got it all! Hosts Jason (who has never read the books) and Mallory (who has read them all) strike the perfect balance between information and entertainment, making this a great listen for anyone who loved this series.

Game Of Owns

If you REALLY love Game of Thrones, then you’ll REALLY love Game Of Owns. Not only does it cover the television series, but the books as well! They also have all sorts of content for the times between the filming of the different series, so you’ll come away being a true expert on the topic. They really delve deep into hidden meanings, thoroughly analyze chapters, and just give us all the information we could possibly want. If you want to really nerd-out over the Iron Throne, then this is the podcast for you.

Closing Thoughts

“Rewatch” podcasts are a great way to enjoy your favorite show all over again. You get to virtually hash out storylines, debate plot holes, and just relive your favorite moments – the good and the bad – again. They give you an outlet to freely indulge in your beloved series, and they can even connect you with a community of fellow fans who would like nothing more than to discuss each episode with you. The real beauty of rewatch podcasts is the fact that they allow you to experience that magic of your favorite series once again, making this a trend we hope never ends.
