Founder’s Corner #24 Personal Growth: What Season Are You In?

Today at the Founder’s Corner, we’re diving into an interesting angle of personal growth. Do you know what season you’re in? Is it a season of waiting? Or go-getting? Or something in between…I’m going to help you find out!

But first…

Now, let’s dive into today’s post!

Personal Growth Hack: What Season Are You In?

As I sat down to evaluate the start of 2024, and my personal and professional goals moving forward, one question kept popping up.

“Am I in a season of waiting or go-getting?”

We’ve all heard the saying, “Good things come to those who wait.”

But do they?

Personal growth: Carli van Heerden x

All around us, the world is full of conflicting advice on whether or not we should wait or act. On one end we hear “Patience is a virtue” and then on the other end it’s “Do not put off until tomorrow what can be done today.”

Now, to me, this conflicting wisdom signifies the importance of this dilemma. Since there are such strong opinions on both sides, perhaps that simply means that in order to know what is right, you have to first determine what season you are in.

Let’s look at three quick measurements to help you determine whether it’s time to wait or time to act.

Are You in a Season of Waiting or Go-Getting?

1. Focus

Where is your main focus?

How we choose to focus our energies and use our time says a lot about the season we are in.

If your focus is on maintaining consistency and the status quo, then you are in a season of waiting.

However, if you are in a season of growth and expansion, then it’s definitely time to act!

2. Capacity

How many different goals and tasks do you have capacity for?

If you are in a season of launching a new podcast, building a community around it, acquiring sponsors, marketing and monetization, (and the list goes on) then perhaps now isn’t the time to be launching a new book.

However, if your plate feels half-empty and your capacity is still roomy, then maybe a book launch could fit in nicely!

3. Price

Finally, think about the “price”.

Everything worthwhile has a price. Even not acting has a price. What you have to determine for yourself is, do you want something bad enough to pay the price? (And this goes both ways.)

If it comes down to timing, then finding your success depends on knowing exactly when to wait and when to act! So pay attention to those situational factors, the season that you’re in, and knowing which path to take next.

And remember, this is your life. You are in charge of your decisions. If you want something, go after it now!

Your Personal Growth is in Your Hands

Finally, as you move along this journey of personal growth, and you’re trying to decide what type of season you’re in, ask yourself these to crucial questions.

Question Number 1:

Are you willing to sit around and wait for something to happen?

And 2…

Question Number 2:

Are you simply going to wait for someone else to open the door to the next opportunity?

If the answer to these questions is no, then it’s time to go after what you want.

After all, it’s up to us to step up and create our own experiences, carving out the best path for our unique journeys!

So take your shot!

Because regrets in life hurt more than failures ever will!
